Moorestown Talent Show to Benefit Premature Babies

Proceeds from the show will go toward Pennies From Melvin.

Moorestown, NJ -- Moorestown High School Student Council’s inaugural talent show will feature performances from members of all four grades, according to the student council.

Proceeds will benefit all four classes, as well as a charity called Pennies From Melvin, which raises money to fund care for babies born prematurely.

All money raised by the charity, founded by Moorestown High School senior Melvin Sheppard 11 years ago, will benefit Cooper University Hospital.

The charity started as a little boy’s dream to give back to the kind people who helped him when he was born, Sheppard said.

It grew to become a mission to help families that have to deal with the fear and uncertainty that comes with having a child born early.
