Moorestown Theater Company Kicks off 13th Season Wednesday Night

The Moorestown Theater Company (MTC) opens its 13th anniversary season Wednesday night with the first of three Disney musicals by and for children.

Disney’s Aladdin Kids & Princess Sing-Along kicks off Wednesday night, 7 p.m. at the William Allen Middle School, 801 North Stanwick Road. This is MTC’s seventh ‘Winter Stage’/Princess Sing-Along production. The performance is a condensed version of the classic Disney musical in Act I, with a “Princess Sing-Along” in Act II.

The show features such memorable characters as ‘Aladdin’, ‘Jasmine’, ‘Genie’, ‘Jafar’, ‘Iago’, ‘Sultan’, and ‘Abu’, and such great songs as “Arabian Nights”, “Friend Like Me”, “Prince Ali”, and the Academy-Award Winning Best Song, “A Whole New World”. The Princess Sing-Along will include ‘Cinderella’, ‘Belle’, ‘Ariel’, ‘Tiana’, ‘Aurora’, ‘Anna’, ‘Elsa’, and, of course, ‘Jasmine.’

The 51-member cast consists of children ages 5-15 years old, and will have three showtimes in addition to Wednesday night’s show: Friday, March 27, 7 p.m.; and Saturday, March 28, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Mark Morgan directs, with Carol Ann Murray serving as Vocal Director and Jody Haggerty taking up the role of choreographer.

MTC will also present Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Jr. and Disney’s Sleeping Beauty, Kids this season.

The Little Mermaid Jr., MTC’s fourth annual ‘Counsel Stage’ musical for the students at Our Lady of Good Counsel School, opens Friday night, April 17, 7:30 p.m. at Our Lady Of Good Counsel School, 23 West Prospect Avenue. The other performance is Saturday, April 18, 7:30 p.m.

The show features such memorable characters as ‘Ariel’, ‘Sebastian’, ‘Flounder’, ‘Scuttle’, ‘Ursula’, ‘King Triton’, and ‘Prince Eric’, and such great songs as “She’s In Love”, “Poor Unfortunate Souls”, “Kiss The Girl”, “Part Of Your World”, and the AcademyAward Winning Original Song, “Under The Sea.”

The 47-member cast consists of Our Lady of Good Counsel middle school students ages 10-14 years old.

Morgan directs with Murray as Vocal Director and Kelsey Marcoccia as choreographer.

Sleeping Beauty Jr., MTC’s fourth annual First Stage musical for Pre-Teen performers opens Thursday night, May 14, 7 p.m. at Hope Community Church, 235 West Main Street.

The show features such memorable characters as ‘Aurora’, ‘Prince Philip’, ‘Flora’, ‘Fauna’, ‘Merryweather’, and of course ‘Maleficent’, and such great songs as ‘Find The Girl’, ‘I Wonder’, and ‘Once Upon A Dream.’

It will also be MTC’s 100th musical production in 13 years, and will have three showtimes following the opener: Friday, May 15, 7 p.m.; and Saturday, May 16, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The cast consists of over 40 children ages 6-12 years old.

Ashley Brimfield will direct this performance. Deanna Palermo will be the Vocal Director and Rachel Smith will be the choreographer.
