Moorestown Theater Company Presents 500th Performance This Weekend

"Shrek Jr." will run for the next two weekends at Upper Elementary School.

The Moorestown Theater Company will present its 500th performance Saturday night.

It will be the third performance of Shrek Jr., which will run at the Upper Elementary School, 325 Borton Landing Road in Moorestown, over the next two weeks.

The company will also perform the show at the National Jr. Theater Festival in Atlanta, GA in January of 2016.

The musical will feature a 67-member children’s cast performing the Moorestown premiere of the Disney musical, which features such well-known characters as Donkey, Princess Fiona, Lord Farquard and of course, the title character, Shrek.

Songs include “Freak Flag,” “The Story Of My Life,” “Big, Bright Beautiful World,” “Morning Person,” “Forever” and of course, “I’m A Believer.”

The theater company is in its 13th season and recently marked its 100th production when it performed Sleeping Beauty Kids in May.

The first show was “Annie,” and the first performance was on July 10, 2003, at Moorestown Friends School.

The show debuts on Friday night, 7 p.m. Other show times include Saturday, Dec. 5, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; Dec. 6, 2 p.m.; Dec. 11, 7 p.m.; Dec. 12, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.; and Dec. 13, 2 p.m. Tickets are $12.

Tickets are reserved and can be purchased online atwww.MoorestownTheaterCompany.org, or at the door 60 minutes before curtain time.
