Moorestown Voters Approve Both Fire District Budgets
Both of Moorestown's fire districts saw their budgets approved during Saturday's elections.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown residents showed their support for the fire districts when they passed both proposed budgets over the weekend.
Fire District No. 1's proposed $2,332,744 budget passed by a vote of 313 to 159, according to unofficial results provided by Fire District Administrator Christopher Chesner.
The budget included a decrease of .063 cents per $100 of assessed valuation to .062, according to Chesner. The amount to be raised by taxation will decrease by $9,591. The owner of the averaged assessed home of $454,032 will pay $281.49 in Fire Taxes in 2020. The overall budget decreases by $201,064, a 7.9 percent decrease from last year.

Commissioners R. Max Fisher and Grant R. Leuliette both ran unopposed for seats on the Board of Commissioners. Fisher collected 440 votes, and Leuliette gathered 432 votes.
Fire District No. 2's proposed $1,434,906 budget was approved by a vote of 74-25, with two provisional ballots outstanding, according to the district’s website.

The budget included an increase in the tax rate of one-tenth of one cent to 9.8 cents per $100 assessed value, according to Moorestown Fire District No. 2 Director of Fire Services Stephen Knobbs. The proposed amount to be raised by taxation increases $14,123, and the tax levy is $786,790. The owner of the average assessed home of $215,249 will see an increase of $2.15.
Howard C. Mann Sr. ran unopposed for an open seat on the Board of Commissioners, and received 96 votes. All results remain unofficial until certified.
