Moorestown Woman, 100, Who Died Of Coronavirus Remembered

Ermy Durighello, née Barbirato, born in Mestre (Venice) in Italy on February 18, 1920, deceased on May 25, 2020, in Mt. Laurel, NJ.

Ermy first emigrated to the USA in 1950, to San Francisco, where she started her family. After close to 20 years in California, she returned with her husband and daughters to Italy to look after her aging parents.

When her youngest daughter later returned to the USA in 2001, she too returned to help look after her beloved granddaughters in Moorestown, NJ, where she remained until moving to the dementia wing of the Laurel Brook Rehabilitation Center in Mt Laurel in 2018.

She was well-cared for at Laurel Brook these last two years. She overcame many challenges in her 100 years, but Covid-19 was one challenge too many.

She rejoins her husband Romeo (deceased 1988) and daughter Marta (deceased in 1954), leaving behind her daughters Grace (Greg Nelson) of Cardiff Wales and Mara (Steven Maasland) of Sidney BC, Canada, and granddaughters Céline and Anaïs Maasland of Ottawa, Canada.
