Moorestown's 1997 Citizen Of The Year Dies At Age 77
William Newborg was the Executive Director of the Community House for 25 years, a member of the planning board and served as MBA President.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — William Frederick Newborg of Columbus, New Jersey, passed away on May 5, 2020, at the age of 77. Bill was born in Bryn Mawr, PA on March 4, 1943, to William and Cecilia Margaret (Henderson) Newborg.
Bill graduated from West Chester University and was a 1st Lieutenant in the Army serving in Vietnam.
Bill settled in Moorestown to raise his family and served as the Executive Director of The Moorestown Community House for 25 years retiring in 2014. He loved the Community House. The people that he worked with were his family and everyone who came through the door became his friend.

Bill loved the town of Moorestown and his contributions were many. He was a past member of the Moorestown Lunch Rotary Club and Past President of the Moorestown Business Association. He served on the Appearance Committee and the Planning Board for many years and was honored to receive the Citizen of the Year award in 1997.
He started the Moorestown Community Calendar, which was a labor of love for him for many years. He also served on the Nipper Project in 2005 as well as many other fundraisers to benefit his beloved Community House.

Bill was a kind, gentle soul with an inquisitive mind. He loved books, The New York Times, gardening, the beach and especially his family. His retirement years found him volunteering at the Grounds for Sculpture and traveling.
Bill is survived by his wife, Mary Lou (Murphy), his son Christopher and daughter-in-law Monica, his daughter, Basey (Elisabeth) Klopp and son-in-law Jamie. His beloved grandchildren, Evan Newborg, Oliver Klopp and Abbott Klopp. Bill also leaves behind his second family Melissa McLarney and her children Andy, Brian (Kate) and Shelby Tibbetts, Tom McLarney III and his wife Sherry and their family Tara, Emily, Kayla and Destiny.
