MTC's 'Elf The Musical Jr.' Sets The Mood For The Holiday Season

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Tickets are still available for the Moorestown Theater Company’s (MTC) presentation of “ Elf The Musical, Jr.,” the first show to be performed on the William Allen Middle School’s newly renovated stage.

It is the second time in four years MTC is performing the musical. MTC staged the East Coast premiere back in 2014. MTC bought the set from Walnut Street Theater after it performed the adaptation of the Will Ferrell holiday favorite about Buddy the Elf.

“It’s a great show to get you in the mood for the holidays,” MTC Artistic Director Mark Morgan said. “Who doesn’t love the story of Elf? It’s such a funny show. … If you come see it, you’re going to leave with a smile on your face.”

The lighting and the sound for the stage at William Allen Middle School — located at 801 North Stanwick Road in Moorestown — was recently upgraded, and this will be the first show performed on the stage since then. Morgan calls it a good opportunity for Moorestown resident to see their tax dollars at work.

There will be six performances by a 55-member children’s cast over two weekends, beginning with a 7 p.m. performance on Friday night, Dec. 1. Other performances are as follows:
Saturday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m.;
Sunday, Dec. 3, 2 p.m.;
Saturday, Dec. 9, noon and 5 p.m.; and
Sunday, Dec. 10, 2 p.m.

MTC moved away from its traditional 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. show times for Dec. 9 so that audiences have time to get their shopping done and attend holiday parties following the shows.

“Elf The Musical, Jr.” has great songs including "Happy All The Time." "World‟s Greatest Dad," "SparkleJollyTwinkleJingley," "A Christmas Song," "Never Fall In Love (With An Elf)," "There Is A Santa Claus" and "The Story Of Buddy (The Elf)."
