National Veterans Wheelchair Games Come to Moorestown Next Week

The schedule of events in Moorestown and other parts of southern New Jersey were released this week.

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games are coming to the Philadelphia area next week, and the schedule of events set to take place in Moorestown has been released.

The schedule reads as follows:

Wednesday, August 13, 2014
FIELD/TRACK - 8am and 1pm - Moorestown High School
TENNIS - Exhibition - 1pm at Moorestown High School

The games, presented by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America, begin in Philadelphia on Aug. 12, and conclude on Aug. 17.

The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is a sports and rehabilitation program for military service veterans who are confined to wheelchairs, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs website.

The event is free and open to the public.

About 600 athletes will participate in the games, including a Vietnam veteran who suffers from multiple sclerosis, according to CBS Philadelphia.
