NJ-3 General Election Showdown Set For Herb Conaway, Rajesh Mohan
An Assembly member and medical administrator — both doctors — are set to face off this November to succeed Rep. Andy Kim in Congress.

NEW JERSEY — Either way, New Jersey's 3rd Congressional District will likely have a doctor in the house.
Two medical doctors are set to face off in Nov. 5's General Election for the Congressional seat: State Assembly Member Herb Conaway (D) and health administrator Rajesh Mohan (R).
The Associated Press declared Conaway and Mohan as victors in their respective primary elections Tuesday night. Both candidates are running to succeed Rep. Andy Kim, a U.S. Senate candidate who has represented NJ-3 for five years in the House of Representatives.

About an hour later, the AP called the Republican race for Mohan. He leads the four-candidate GOP field with 11,960 votes as of Wednesday morning — about 2,500 more than Shirley Maia-Cusick in second place.
Conaway has been in the State Assembly for 26 years, serving as the majority whip from 2014-17 and several stints as deputy speaker. He has continued to work in the medical field throughout his political tenure, specializing in internal medicine.
Mohan, a cardiologist, has assumed various roles in medical administration throughout his career.
The voting results remain unofficial until certified on a later date.
