Nominations Being Taken For Moorestown Citizen Of The Year

The winner will be announced early next year, and there will be a ceremony held for that person in February.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Moorestown’s Service Club Council is once again seeking nominations for the township’s Citizen of the Year award.

For over 60 years, the Citizen of the Year Award has recognized a Moorestown resident, who, through varied voluntary community service activities, has significantly contributed to the quality of life of both the community and its citizens.

To make a nomination for the 2019 Moorestown Citizen of the Year award, contact john@omearas.net for a nomination form and submit your nomination in either hard copy to: Moorestown Community House (attn. Service Club Council), 16E Main Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057 or in email / electronic format to: info@thecommunityhouse.org.

All nominations must be submitted to the Service Club Council by Dec. 1, 2018. The council will announce their selection in January and there will be a Citizen of the Year celebration in the Moorestown Community House on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2019.

Factors to be considered for nomination are:

  • Nominee must be or have been a citizen of Moorestown Township, although service activities are not geographically limited to Moorestown;
  • Community service through individual volunteer effort and/or participation in group activities, unrelated to nominee’s employment;
  • Contributions through public service (elective or appointed positions at the local county, state or federal levels);
  • Multiple and varied volunteer efforts, including services which help bring the community and its citizens closer together; and
  • Honors, awards and citations which bring recognition to the nominee and community for his or her contributions.

The Moorestown Service Clubs Council consists of Rotary Lunch and Breakfast clubs, The Lions Club and the Y Service Club. All four clubs contribute various community service projects within the town and encourage others do to the same.
