Nominations Now Open for Moorestown Citizen of the Year

The Citizen of the Year is a Moorestown resident who has significantly contributed to the quality of life of the community and its citizens.

The Moorestown Service Clubs Council is now accepting nominations for the 2016 Moorestown Citizen of the Year Award.

The Citizen of the Year “is a Moorestown resident and has through varied voluntary community service activities significantly contributed to the quality of life of both the community and its citizens.”

The council, which consists of the Rotary Lunch and Breakfast Clubs, The Lions Club and the Y Service Club, says the following criteria should be considered when submitting a nomination:

  • Although service activities are not geographically limited to Moorestown, nominee must be or have been a resident of Moorestown Township.
  • Community service through individual volunteer effort and/or participation in group activities, unrelated to nominee’s employment.
  • Contributions through public service (elective or appointed positions at the local county, state or federal levels).
  • Multiple and varied volunteer efforts, including services which help bring the community and its citizens closer together.
  • Honors, awards and citations which bring recognition to the nominee and community for his or her contributions.

All nominations must be submitted to the Service Clubs Council by Dec. 1.. The council will announce its selection in January and there will be a Citizen of the Year celebration at the Moorestown Community House on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016.

The council, which was established in 1954 and is celebrating its 62nd anniversary, consists of the Rotary Lunch and Breakfast Clubs, The Lions Club and the Y Service Club.

All four clubs participate in various community service projects within the town and encourage others to do the same.
