The larger portion of the center will be in Burlington Township, according to Philly.com. Burlington City recently held a job fair for residents, and is providing training for city residents to qualify for jobs with the company, which already employs more than 16,000 people across the state.

The center's opening is made possible by separate agreements Cranbury-based Matrix Realty Inc. has signed with Burlington City and Burlington Township, according to the Courier Post. Matrix has handled other similar centers for Amazon.

Amazon already has facilities in Avenel, Carteret, Cranbury, Edison, Florence, Logan, Robbinsville and West Deptford, many of which are also hiring.

The fulfillment center is part of Amazon's expansion across New Jersey, which the online retail giant views as a main artery to quickly deliver items all over the mid-Atlantic market.
