Obituary: Doris Hansen

Doris Hansen (nee Spiller), age 89, of Marlton, formerly of Emerson, died on June 1, 2015.

Doris was the daughter of Harold and Florence Spiller and grew up in Chatham, NJ. She attended Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, and received her BS RN from New York Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University) in New York City, where she was the valedictorian.

She worked as a nurse caring for newborn babies, first at Hackensack Hospital and then at Pascack Valley Hospital in Westwood, NJ, retiring after 30 years. Doris was the wife of the late George E. Hansen, mother of Susan Hansen Mino and Carole Hansen Kraemer (husband Rick Kraemer), and grandmother of Christopher and Joseph Mino and Kelsey and Olivia Kraemer.

An avid crossword puzzle solver, she had an incomparable love of animals, especially cats, and volunteered at multiple animal welfare organizations.

Doris was a longstanding member of the Westwood United Methodist Church, whose caring women’s group continued to support her after she moved to the Brightview Greentree community in Marlton in 2011.

Please join us in celebrating Doris’s life and honoring her passing at a memorial luncheon on Friday, June 5 from noon – 3 p.m., with a brief service at 1 pm, at The Moorestown Field Club, 629 Chester Ave., Moorestown, NJ.
