Moorestown Resident, Frank Giordano - Chairman of the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra's 2013-14 Board of Directors

The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra is proud to announce that Moorestown's Frank Giordano has been reelected as chairman of their 2013-14 Board of Directors. Frank, also President and CEO of The Philly POPS, said recently, “It gives me great pleasure to serve another year alongside such estimable professionals in our region. We are very appreciative of our newest trustee, Gary Frank, who brings great energy and passion for the arts to PYO. Our loyal, returning trustees have been (and continue to be) a tremendous asset to our small, diverse board of Philadelphia-area notables.  I cannot be more grateful for the strengths that come from this group.”

The renowned organization is entering its 74th and preparing for a landmark 75th season.  The board is comprised of distinguished professional and community leaders from across the region.  Since 1939, the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra organization has offered superior instruction and performance opportunities to gifted musical students.  The Board leadership team is poised to continue the legacy of the PYO as the area’s foremost musical education organization and as a frontrunner in responding to the needs of at-risk youth through its Tune Up Philly Ensemble.

As the PYO approaches 75 years as the foremost youth orchestra in our tri-state region, the organization is pleased to welcome our trustees for their talent and acumen that add polish to an already brilliant ‘diamond’ history in Philadelphia’s youth orchestral music education.”

About the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra:  Founded in 1939, the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra organization is one of the nation’s oldest community music education and youth orchestra performance programs for gifted and talented students from the Tri-State region.  Lead by Maestro Louis Scaglione, the organization’s flagship ensemble, Philadelphia Youth Orchestra (PYO), provides the most talented students with advanced orchestral training and performance opportunities throughout the concert season.  PYO’s companion ensembles include the Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra (PYAO), formed in 1996; Bravo Brass, added to the program in 2003; and Philadelphia Region Youth String Music (PRYSM) created in 2007.  Young musicians from ages six through 21 are selected by competitive audition and have represented the United States on five continents.  The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra organization offers classical musical performances to the Greater Philadelphia region each year and supports musical education to children from Philadelphia’s more vulnerable neighborhoods through its after-school program launched in 2010, Tune Up Phillywww.pyos.org .
