Police Equipment, Baseball Field Fencing Among Legislation Introduced During Moorestown Council Meeting

Both public hearings are set for Sept. 26.

Moorestown, NJ -- Moorestown Council approved a deal designed to save taxpayers about $1 million in the cost of water purchased from New Jersey American Water during Monday night’s meeting.

Other legislation was passed concerning water, and council put funding in place for a dog park at Swede Run Fields, as well.

1. Council approved a bond ordinance setting aside $280,000 and borrowing $266,000 for the purchase of police vehicles and equipment, including four vehicles, a live scan fingerprinting system and a building camera security system. This included a $14,000 down payment. The proposed ordinance was unanimously approved, with a public hearing and final vote scheduled for Sept. 26.

2. Council approved a bond ordinance to set aside $50,000 and borrow $47,500 for the installation of new fencing at the Lenola Baseball Fields, including backstops and dugout enclosures. The public hearing and final vote on the ordinance will be on Sept. 26.

3. In a separate resolution, Moorestown entered into a shared services agreement with Sterling High School, doing business as South Jersey Technology Partnership, specifically to assist with the purchase and installation of the fencing.
