The caller claims to be with the IRS in an attempt to steal personal information.

Moorestown Police are warning residents of a phone scam in which the person calling portrays themselves as being with the IRS.

Many residents have reported receiving calls in which the scammers claim they are from the IRS and are collecting money, police said Thursday afternoon. They are attempting to get personal information for future fraud.

“Note that the IRS never makes contact with people in this manner,” police said. “Never give your personal identifiers or send money to one of these callers.”
