Another scheme targets elderly residents with a variation of a long time bail fraud scheme in which the victim is contacted by a scammer who tells them a family member is in jail and needs bail money.
In recent cases, a person purporting to be a bail bondsman comes to the victim's house and takes the "cash bail" causing a loss to the victim, police said.
