Primary Election 2020: Who's Running, Where To Vote In Moorestown

MOORESTOWN, NJ — A primary election generally isn’t something people circle on their calendars, but this year, it’s really coming out of left field. Yes, Tuesday is Primary Day for New Jersey, more than a month after it typically takes place.

This year’s primary moved from June 2 to July 7 amid the coronavirus pandemic, and will be primarily vote by mail. While the presumptive presidential nominees for the two major parties have been determined, there are some contested primaries on Moorestown voters’ ballot.

Kate Gibbs and David Richter are vying for the Republican nomination in the Nov. 3 Congressional Election in New Jersey’s Third Legislative District. The winner of Tuesday's GOP primary voting will face Democrat Andy Kim, the incumbent, and independent candidate Martin Weber. U.S. Sen. Cory Booker faces challenge in his Democratic Primary from Lawrence Hamm. Five Republicans are pursuing the nomination for November’s general election, including Natalie Lynn Rivera, Rikin “Rik” Mehta, Patricia Flanagan, Hirsh Singh and Eugene T. Anagnos.

Although Joe Biden has already secured the Democratic nomination for president with 2,144 delegates, Bernie Sanders and his delegates still appear on the ballot under the “Not Me. Us” ticket.

There are no other competitive races on the ballot. Moorestown Council members Lisa Petriello, a Democrat, and Victoria Napolitano and Mike Locatell, both Republicans, have decided not to run for re-election.

Democrats Dave Zipin, Sue Mammarella and Jake VanDyken are running for the three open, four-year seats against Republicans, Barbara Omert, Doug Maute and Vick Bobadilla in November, but neither side faces a primary challenge.

Burlington County Freeholders Tom Pullion and Balvir Singh are running for re-election, and don’t face challengers in the Democratic Primary. They will face Republicans Tinamarie Nicolo and John Adams in November. They are also running unopposed on Primary Day.

All registered Democratic and Republican voters will automatically receive a postage paid vote-by-mail ballot while all unaffiliated and inactive voters will automatically receive a postage paid vote-by-mail application. Those ballots can be sent back by mail or dropped in one of the boxes.

Polling locations have been decreased by fifty percent; and, therefore, election districts have been consolidated. They will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Here's where to vote in Moorestown:
