Questions about NJ ASK?

Lumos Learning will host a free webinar for parents and educators next week. Read on to find out how to register.

It’s no secret many students, parents and teachers find standardized tests to be one of the most stressful aspects of the educational process. In an effort to alleviate some of the stress and confusion surrounding the NJ ASK test, Lumos Learning is presenting a free webinar for parents and educators, and they’ve asked libraries across New Jersey to help spread the word.

At 11 a.m. Monday, March 18, Marisa Adams of Lumos Learning will present “NJ ASK 2013 – A Parent’s Guide.” The webinar is designed to help parents and teachers learn more about what is changing in this year’s NJ ASK. Adams will explain the basics of academic standards, the overall testing framework and proposed changes, and how parents can best support their children through the testing process.

In the webinar, participants will discover:

• The role of the Common Core State Standards in education today
• The current framework of the NJ ASK test, as well as proposed future changes
• Tips and tricks parents can follow to support their students
• What to look for in test preparation books or software

Anyone interested in participating should register in advance at http://lumoslearning.com/a/njask13parents.
