With a vote on articles of impeachment set to go before the full House of Representatives next week, following a vote in the House Judiciary Committee on Friday, Moorestown resident Edwin Begg wonders about the president's attraction among his followers and about the public use of expletives by the president.

To the Editor:

Will President Trump be impeached? Activity in Congress, courtrooms and the court of public opinion will provide answers in the coming weeks.

What does Trump say about the impeachment proceedings? At his November 26 rally before a crowd of Miami-area followers, he railed against the usual subjects: fake news, the impeachment hearings, the Bidens, etc.

He also made this statement: “You see what’s happening in the polls? Everybody says that’s really (expletive deleted).” His crowd roared back, “(expletive deleted), (expletive deleted), (expletive deleted)!”

It’s sad that parents have to turn the TV on mute while Trump activity is being aired when young children are present. What does a parent say when little Suzie looks up and asks, “Mommy, what does (expletive deleted) mean?”

What is Trump’s attraction to his followers? Perhaps it is explained by Billy Flynn, a flimflam, shyster lawyer, in the musical “Chicago,” who was defending Roxie Hart on a murder charge, before a jury, who breaks out in song,

Back since the days of old Methuselah
Everyone loves the big bamboozler
Give ‘em the old three-ring circus
Stun and stagger ‘em
When you’re in trouble, go into your dance
Though you are stiffer than a girder
They’ll let you get away with murder
Razzle dazzle ‘em and you’ve got a romance.

We wait and watch.
