Roffler Barber Shop In Moorestown Reopens
Roffler in Moorestown has reopened with enhanced safety and CDC hygiene measures, the barber shop announced.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — Roffler of Moorestown Barber Shop has reopened for business, the shop announced. They reopened on Monday with enhanced safety and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) hygiene measures amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Roffler is currently only offering haircuts, but said more grooming services will be available at a later date. The barber shop had been closed due to Gov. Phil Murphy’s executive order to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
Mark Merlino’s father, John, bought the shop in 1961. It was known as John’s Barber Shop until it became part of the Roffler franchise of barbers in the 1970s, according to the shop’s website. Mark Merlino joined the business in the 1980s and took over when his father retired in 1999.

New Jersey has released a long set of rules for barbers and hair stylists, as well hair braiding shops, nail salons, spas and massage parlors, to follow if they want to reopen. Some of the big safeguards barbers and hair stylists must follow include:

- Limiting services to appointment-only
- Performing health screening — including temperature checks — on clients and staff prior to entry to the facility
- Requiring use of personal protective equipment, and requiring clients to wear face coverings at all times, regardless of the service they are receiving, unless face down on a massage table or where doing so would inhibit a person's health
- Ensuring that all staff-client pairs maintain at least 6 feet distance between other staff-client pairs, unless separated by physical barriers;
- Adopting enhanced cleaning and disinfection practices
- Staying informed about new developments and guidance related to COVID-19.
