'Beloved' School Bus Driver IDed As Victim In Fatal Burlington Co. Crash
Another bus driver struck the victim in the school district's bus lot, officials said.
Update, 2:20 p.m. Wednesday: This article now includes the identity of the bus driver who was killed in the crash, according to police.
MAPLE SHADE, NJ — Police have publicly identified the Maple Shade school bus driver who another district driver fatally struck Tuesday on school grounds.
The striking school bus driver hit Jack Hohwald, 85, on Tuesday afternoon in the Maple Shade School District's bus lot, police said Wednesday. Hohwald was standing outside of his bus during the collision.

The incident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed as of 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The striking driver waited for police at the scene.

The district canceled Wednesday classes to "allow our school community to process this loss and support one another," said Superintendent Beth Norcia.
Norcia called the victim a "beloved staff member" in a letter to the district community.
The Burlington County Crisis Response Team and counselors will be available for students and staff for the rest of the week, Norcia said.
Maple Shade Police Chief Christopher Fletcher promised a "thorough and complete investigation" into the incident.
"Our hearts go out to the victim's family, Maple Shade School District and Community, which is devastated by what happened," Fletcher said in a statement.
The district's bus lot is located at Maple Shade High School.
