School Supplies Needed In Moorestown. How You Can Help.

New notebooks, pencils, calculators and hand sanitizer dispensers are among the many supplies needed, organizers said.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Moorestown residents and those living in other Burlington County communities are encouraged to donate school supplies to children who may be struggling financially, the organizers of several local school supply drives said.

"This year, there is an urgent need for additional help for children going back to school," Richard Stagliano, Chief Executive Officer of Center For Family Services and one of the school supply drive organizers, told Patch.

Added Burlington County Undersheriff Jim Kostoplis, another school supply drive organizer, "residents are still trying to recover from the impacts of the pandemic so it’s important that we do everything we can."

Practically any new school supply that is donated will be put to good use, organizers said. Particularly, donations of new backpacks, calculators, binders, paper, folders, notebooks, composition books, pencils, pencil cases, pens, crayons, markers, highlighters, erasers, small hand sanitizers, lunch boxes, scissors and index cards are most needed, organizers said.

Donations of new school supplies dropped off between now and Sept. 6 at the Moorestown Mall will be donated to recipients of assistance from the Center for Family Services, an organization that helps others in South Jersey and other parts of the Garden State.

If a trip to Moorestown Mall is not possible, donations of new school supplies that are dropped off between now and Aug. 19 at the Cinnaminson branch and all other branches of the Burlington County libraries, the lobbies of Burlington County buildings, the Sheriff’s Department Community Services Unit and State Senator Troy Singleton’s Moorestown office will be donated to social service agencies throughout Burlington County.

"We want this school year to be a success for students," Evan Iepson, Moorestown Mall's Marketing Coordinator, told Patch. "Being prepared for learning with the essential supplies is the first step for students to reach their academic goals."
