Slices 4 Safety: Moorestown Police Connect With Community

The Moorestown and Mount Laurel police departments are giving tickets for one slice of pizza to kids who are doing the right thing.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — In a time of social unrest between the public and their local police departments, Moorestown police is finding a way to connect with the community, particularly the children.

Beginning Saturday, Moorestown police is kicking off its inaugural “Slices 4 Safety” campaign in which officers will be handing out tickets to children they see riding bikes with helmets, using crosswalks and sidewalks, wearing seat belts, waiting for rides in well-lit areas, playing outside, and overall just being good kids.

They’re not your normal tickets; these are good for one free slice of plain pizza. Moorestown police and Mount Laurel police are entering into the initiative together.

“These local businesses teamed up with Moorestown and Mount Laurel police departments to give back to the community,” Moorestown police said in a statement. “We are honored they are giving our patrol officers an opportunity to connect positively with local youth during their tour of duty.”

“This is the time to remind the children in this area we appreciate them having fun while being safe,” police said. “Our officers will be on the lookout for opportunities to issue ‘Slices 4 Safety Tickets.’”
