Special Needs Children Of Burlington County Enjoy Special Day
The county's Special Services School District and Division of Parks recently hosted Spring Family Fest.
WESTAMPTON, NJ — Children who attend Burlington County Special Services and their families recently attended Spring Family Fest – an egg hunt and festival created with their special needs in mind.
“Every child should have the opportunity to enjoy egg hunts and other spring festivities and this event is one of the only ones in the areas that’s specifically designed to be sensory-friendly for different special needs,” Burlington County Commissioner Director Dan O’Connell said in the press release.
This year’s event, held April 10, featured three different egg hunts – one for children and teenagers with autism spectrum disorder, a second one for those with multiple disabilities and a third one for those who are visually impaired, deaf or hearing impaired. There were also information tables, craft vendors, music, additional activities and a visit from the Easter Bunny. (Editor’s note: See slideshow above.)

This year’s Spring Family Fest was the first after a 2-year hiatus caused by the pandemic, according to O’Connell.
“We’re thrilled to be able to partner with our Sheriff, Special Services School District and Division of Parks to bring it back for children and their families to enjoy,” he said.
