Spotted Lantern Fly in Moorestown

The Spotted Lantern Fly was seen near the George C. Baker Elementary School in Moorestown last week.

MOORESTOWN, NJ — Recently, Brian Leusner, our Township Tree Expert, and his crew found Spotted Lantern Flies and egg masses near Baker School. Last Friday he took the Tree Committee on a field trip to see them in person. Here are photos taken so you can identify egg masses. In some photos you can see where some egg masses were removed and some strategically left to show to Township staff and Tree Committee.

The recent cold temperatures have killed off most of the bugs, but the egg masses laid will be hatching hundreds of bugs next spring and destroying our trees if we don't identify and remove them now!

Check the trees, shrubs, posts, fences, etc. now on your property, remove the egg masses and destroy them. Township staff is periodically checking key Township trees, but they need our help. Keep an eye out when you're out walking in your neighborhood. If you see egg masses, remove them, destroy them and let Public Works (856-235-3520) know where you found them.
