Sunnybrook Makos See 21 New Qualifiers for Tri-County Meet

The Makos suffered their first loss of the season to Pomona on June 27.

The Sunnybrook Makos saw 21 swimmers qualify for the Tri-County meet despite suffering their first loss of the season to Pomona, 318-236, on Saturday, June 27.

New Tri-County qualifications were as follows:

The results below were provided by the Makos:

In the Individual Medley (IM), there were a number of strong performances. Sophia Sapnas placed second and Catie Shawaryn third for the 11-12 Girls. Larry Walker and Ethan Kortman were second and third for the 11-12 Boys. Holly Robinson placed first and Annabel Gorman second for the 13-14 Girls; James Santarpio came in third for the 13-14 Boys, and Kaitlyn Levinson third for the 15-18 Girls. Matthew Schaeffer was second for the 15-18 Boys.

Sunnybrook won three of the Medley Relays. The team of Jordin Chezem, Bethany Trzeciak, Peyton Chezem, and Elizabeth Arthur were first for the 8 and under Girls, the team of Luke Steene, Tyler Arthur, Chase Macine, and Leo Hinshillwood were first for the 9-10 Boys, and Fiona Stewart, Annie Wixted, Annabel Gorman and Holly Robinson were first for the 13-14 Girls.

Freestyle

The Sunnybrook 8 and under girls swept the 25 M Freestyle with Eliana Delgado first, Elizabeth Arthur second, and Bethany Trzeciak third. The 8 and under Boys placed second (Alex Yurkewicz) and third (Tre Hartsell). Caitlin Barr was second for the 9-10 Girls in the 50 M Free, and Tyler Arthur swam to the first place for the 9-10 Boys. Leo Hinshillwood was third for the 9-10 Boys. For the 11-12 Girls, Sophia Sapnas was second and Molly Zimmerman third. TJ Zimmerman was first and Cade McGrath third for the 11-12 Boys, in the 50 M event. Annie Wixted placed first and Fiona Stewart second for the Girls 13-14 100 M event and Antonis Christou second for the 13-14 Boys. Madeline Raue was second for the 15-18 Girls, and Kevin Fox placed third for the 15-18 Boys.

Backstroke

Abby Buss placed third for the 8 and under Girls in the 25 M event and Alex Yurkewicz second for the 8 and under Boys. Meera Sholevar was third for the 9-10 Girls. For the 9-10 Boys, Luke Steene was first in the 25 M event and Chase Macine third. Olivia Trasser placed second and Isabella Delgado third for the 11-12 Girls and Larry Walker was second for the 11-12 Boys. Fiona Stewart placed third for the 13-14 Girls and James Santarpio was also third for the 13-14 Boys. Catherine Wilson was second for the 15-18 Girls. Matthew Phillips came in second and Peter Kohart third for the 15-18 Boys.

Breaststroke

Jordin Chezem was first in the 8 and under Girls 25 M Breaststroke, with Bethany Trzeciak coming third. Colin Raue was second and Seamus Donnan third for 8 and under Boys. Mia Peper won the first place blue ribbon for the 9-10 Girls, and Tyler Arthur was first, Leo Hinshillwood third for the 9-10 Boys. Catie Shawaryn was second and Erin Donnan third for the 11-12 Girls 50 M Breaststroke and Alex Christou second and TJ Zimmerman third for the 11-12 Boys event. Annie Wixted was first for the 13-14 Girls and Ava Setter third. Patrick Hartshorne was the third place finisher for the 13-14 Boys. Danielle Scola captured the first place for the 15-18 Girls and Skye Slater was right behind at second place. To finish the Breaststroke, Matthew Schaeffer placed second for the 15-18 Boys, in the 100 M event.

Butterfly

Jordin Chezem started the butterfly event with a first place finish for the 8 and under Girls. Eliana Delgado was third in the 25 M event. Tre Hartsell was first and Seamus Donnan third for the 8 and under Boys. Caitlin Barr was second for the 9-10 Girls. Luke Steene was first, Hari Bezwada second for the 9-10 Boys, for the 25 M Fly. In the 11-12 Girls 25 M Fly, Olivia Trasser was second and Hannah Babcock third. Alex Christou finished second and Cade McGrath third for the 11-12 Boys. Holly Robinson was the blue ribbon winner for the 13-14 Girls and Annabel Gorman came in second. The 13-14 Boys came in second (Antonis Christou) and third (Kevin Caryle) in the 50 M event, and Madeline Raue was third for the 15-18 Girls. Peter Kohart was second for the 15-18 Boys, in the 50 M event.

Freestyle Relays

In the freestyle relays, first place teams were the 8 and under Girls of Jordin Chezem, Elizabeth Arthur, Bethany Trzeciak and Eliana Delgado, the 9-10 Boys team of Tyler Arthur, Leo Hinshillwood, Hari Bezwada and Luke Steene, the 11-12 Girls team of Olivia Trasser, Catie Shawaryn, Isabella Delgado and Sophia Sapnas, and the final first place was the 13- 14 Girls team of Annabel Gorman, Annie Wixted, Fiona Stewart and Holly Robinson.
