Superintendent Will Leave Moorestown Schools In March For New Position
Superintendent Michael Volpe's last day in Moorestown is scheduled for March 2, 2023, the Board of Education said.
MOORESTOWN, NJ — The search for a new superintendent in Moorestown will begin soon, as Michael Volpe prepares to leave the district to serve his hometown in Somerset County.
The Board of Education officially accepted Volpe's resignation to accept the superintendent's position in his hometown of Hillsborough, said board president Mick Weeks. In accordance with Volpe's contract, his last day in Moorestown is scheduled for March 2, 2023.
Weeks said the board will begin advertising for the interim position very soon.

"It is our collective intention to hire an interim superintendent soon so that we can ensure a smooth transition of leadership," said Weeks. "The board is considering options regarding the search for a permanent superintendent. Those details are still being discussed, and we expect to have more information following the next scheduled Board of Education meeting on November 15, 2022."
Volpe took over the position of superintendent in Moorestown at the end of 2021, coming from Princeton Public Schools where he was Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. His contract with Hillsborough Public Schools begins Feb. 1, 2023 according to Patch reporter Alexis Tarrazi.

Earlier in his career, Volpe spent 13 and a half years as principal and director of human resources in Hillsborough.
