Moorestown has experienced numerous trash pickup delays in recent weeks. These delays are due in part to excessive use of oversized trash cans by residents. As such, Moorestown Township is asking residents to ensure that their trash cans comply with the township code § 92-8 or 92-9, which states the weight of receptacles and its contents, boxes or bundle should not exceed 60 pounds. The maximum capacity for trash cans/ containers is 32 gallons.

The township’s contract for trash hauling services outlines the aforementioned trash dimensions. To change the scope of the service to accommodate larger sized trash cans would result in additional fees to Moorestown and its taxpayers.
In order to avoid a more expensive contract, trash cans exceeding the current weight restrictions will not be picked up. Residents can put out multiple, smaller sized trash cans given they meet the township’s size restrictions.
