Trucker in BurlCo Left Deadly Crash Unaware That It Happened: Police

Authorities tracked down the driver, who is cooperating with the investigation into a motorcyclist's death.

SOUTHAMPTON, NJ — A trucker involved in a deadly, three-vehicle crash left the scene unaware of the accident Sunday afternoon in Burlington County, authorities said.

A man was killed after his motorcycle hit a vehicle, overturned and sent him into an oncoming tractor-trailer in Southampton, officials said. The Peterbilt tractor-trailer driver did not stop at the scene, since he wasn't aware of the impact, said Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron, a State Police spokesperson.

Through "various investigative means," police tracked down the Peterbilt driver, who is cooperating with the investigation, Lebron said. He did not say where or when authorities found the driver.

Police identified the dead motorcyclist as Johnny Epperson Jr., 67, of Hainesport.

Troopers responded to the crash at 12:37 p.m. Sunday on Route 206. A preliminary investigation from State Police found that Epperson's Harley-Davidson hit the back of a Honda CRV as both vehicles traveled northbound.
