VIDEO: Baby Deer Rescued From Drain In South Jersey
The fawn was released after a passerby heard it crying from an underground drain, one witness said.
PEMBERTON, NJ - Fire personnel in South Jersey were hailed as heroes this weekend for safely rescuing a baby deer from a drain.
In a Facebook post posted Saturday and shared by the Pemberton Township Volunteer Fire Department, area resident Desirae Hilton noted that a passerby had heard the fawn crying from an underground drain and promptly alerted authorities.
“We immediately called the non-emergency line and the police called the fire department,” Hilton said. “The [fire] chief came out quickly to get the baby deer out.”
