When Can Residents Dispose of Unused Medication at Moorestown Police Department?
The collection will be part of the 2016 DEA Operation Take Back NJ Initiative.

Moorestown, NJ -- Moorestown Police will host a Prescription and Over the Counter Medicine Disposal Site as part of the 2016 DEA Operation Take Back NJ initiative on Saturday, April 30, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the front parking lot of the police department, 1245 North Church Street, Suite 2.
Anyone may dispose of medication either in its original container or by removing medication from its container and disposing directly into the drug disposal box.
Residents who dispose of medications in their original containers are encouraged to remove the prescription label if it contains any personal identifying information.

Liquid products, such as cough medicine, should remain sealed in their original container. The depositor should ensure that the cap is tightly sealed to prevent leakage.
Syringes and other sharp instruments will not be accepted.

The mission of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New Jersey (NJ) Division Operation Take Back NJ is to provide a safe and legal method for the citizens of New Jersey to dispose their unwanted, unused, and expired medicines.
According to Monitoring the Future from the University of Michigan, between 1997 and 2007 treatment admissions for prescription painkillers increased more than 400 percent.
Between 2004 and 2008, the number of visits to hospital emergency departments involving the non-medical use of narcotic painkillers increased 111 percent, police said.
