2 Injured in Morristown Car Crash Thursday Morning, Cops Say

Illegal left turn ends in flipped vehicle and extrication, police report.

One woman needed to be extricated from her flipped SUV and another required medical attention for chest pain after two vehicles collided at an intersection Thursday morning, police said.

At 11:51 a.m. Morristown Police were dispatched to the intersection of Madison Avenue and Franklin Street for a report of a car crash with entrapment, Lt. Stuart Greer said.

When police arrived they found a 2013 Subaru Legacy sedan had contacted a 2002 Chevy Envoy SUV, forcing it to flip onto its roof, Greer said.

The driver of the Envoy, Rebecco Gero, 21, of Morristown, had to be extricated from her vehicle and was taken to Morristown Medical Center for evaluation of arm pain, Greer said.

The driver of the Subaru, an unnamed 54-year-old woman from North Arlington, was uninjured, but her passenger, and 82-year-old woman from Rockaway, was taken to the hospital for evaluation of chest pain, Greer said. The injury was likely sustained as a result of airbag deployment, Greer said.

An investigation revealed Gero made a left turn from Madison Avenue onto Turtle Road and crossed in front of the Subaru Legacy as it traveled east on Madison, Greer said. Gero was issued a summons for careless driving.

The roadway was closed for 45 minutes as a result of the investigation.
