$317M County Budget Has No Increase for 2014

For the second consecutive year Morris County residents won’t see an increase in the county portion of their property tax bill. 

Overall spending maintains essential county services, and is still below the 2012 level, according to Morris County Freeholder Director Tom Mastrangelo. 

The budget will be unveiled at the Freeholder’s work session meeting Wednesday, March 12 at 4:30 p.m., and formally introduced during the governing body’s public meeting at 7 p.m.

A line item in the budget shows $8.3 million toward debt service, which is part of a five-year plan to reduce the county’s debt by $64 million. The budget also shows a $1.2 million reduction in the county’s Preservation Trust Fund tax.

The meeting will be conducted in the Knox Conference Room on the fifth floor of the Administration and Records Building at 10 Court Street in Morristown.
