Verga, Connor, and DeNova - Thoughtful Planning, Responsible Growth

A letter to the editor from Melissa Lamm:

The following is an unedited letter to the editor from Morris Plains resident Melissa Lamm:

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — I believe Morris Plains needs forward-thinking, transparent leaders with proven records of fostering a vibrant downtown, promoting smart and sustainable land use, and enhancing opportunities for our children. That's why I am voting for Nancy Verga for Mayor and Lee Connor and Rosaria DeNova for Borough Council.

As a Morris Plains resident with a young family, I am deeply invested in our Borough's future. My daughter is the fourth generation of our family to call Morris Plains home, and my husband and I are proud to be raising her in this community. We plan to eventually retire here, giving us a strong stake in the decisions that will shape Morris Plains for years to come.

I have had the privilege of working with Lee Connor through the Education Foundation of Morris Plains. I have seen firsthand her passion and commitment to our students and community. Beyond her leadership role with the Foundation, Lee served as president of the Board of Education and the Morris County School Boards Association. Her dedication and leadership have strengthened educational opportunities for our students and made a lasting impact on our community.

In addition, Lee, Nancy, and Rosaria have consistently prioritized responsible planning and community input. They oppose the two-lane drive-through project on Speedwell Avenue across from our schools, which is expected to bring hundreds of additional cars each day through an already busy area. As a council member, Nancy voted against the 2023 drive-through ordinance, and Lee later co-founded Plan Better Morris Plains to promote transparency and resident involvement in these types of planning decisions. Rosaria, along with Nancy and Lee, has advocated for a vibrant downtown that welcomes visitors and residents while prioritizing pedestrian safety. I fully support their commitment to thoughtful, responsible planning and growth that reflect the priorities of our residents.

I am excited to vote for Nancy Verga, Lee Connor, and Rosaria DeNova on November 3.

Sincerely,

Melissa Lamm
