Lt Ed Conrads and his reason for being involved in the Relay for Life of Morristown

Hi!

My name is Ed Conrads and I am a Lieutenant with the Morris Twp. Police Dept.

and I am in my 27th year with the Department. I am participating in the Relay for Life in memory of my Mother. She contracted breast cancer in 2005 and completed all of the required treatments and was cancer free. In 2007 the cancer returned to her chest and she passed away on June 19, 2007. My Mom was one of the greatest women on Earth and I miss her everyday. She was a community oriented person that believed in giving to the community where she lived. She was extremely proud of being a lifetime member of the Lakeland Rescue Squad and was the first female Chief of a Rescue Squad in New Jersey. She was dedicated to volunteer and answer calls all year, day and night, holidays, etc.

I remember my Father complaining when Mom would run out of the house in order to respond to a call for an emergency when I was little. Dad would always say, “ that’s your Mom, she loves to help other people”. A special person that was taken away from my family and our community much too early at the age of 64.  Like I said earlier, I miss her everyday and love her.

Rceently, I just learned my wife of 26 years has skin cancer on her eyelid, and she is scheduled for it to be removed on June 10th. Obviously, my family is nervous and scared and have our fingers crossed that this is taken care of and she will be fine. A small piece of her eyelid has to be removed and a plastic surgeon will fix the area that has been affected.

Please consider donating to the Relay for Life so research into this horrible disease can continue and other families do not have to experience having cancer hurt their families. If you would like to donate please drop off a donation to the Police station made out to the American Cancer Society and place my name in the memo. Or donate on-line. Thanks again for your consideration and lets make this a great event for the American Cancer Society.

Fondly,

Ed
