The Seeing Eye has always been known as a pioneer and innovator in the guide dog movement and on April 1, 2013, the organization made an exciting announcement that will revolutionize the guide animal industry. It proudly announced the first Seeing Eye® cat! For the last decade, a team of geneticists has worked in a top secret location just outside company headquarters in Morristown, N.J., to develop this new feline. The first breed of working cat, officially named The Seeing Eye® cat, is bigger than the average cat, while still retaining the portability, independent nature and easy-to-care-for qualities of the domestic housecat.
The public is being asked to celebrate this special occasion and join The Seeing Eye in welcoming this new addition to service animal industry by suggesting a name for the first Seeing Eye® cat, which is female. Names can be submitted as a comment on The Seeing Eye Facebook page at www.Facebook.com/SeeingEye. The comment to receive the most “likes” from the public will used as the name for the first Seeing Eye® cat and the winner will receive a special prize.
