When you think of texting and driving, you may assume teenagers are the biggest culprits. However, a new survey by AT&T reveals that adults are actually worse.
According to the survey, nearly half of adults admit to texting and driving, compared to 43 percent of teenagers. More than 98 percent of those adults say they know it is wrong, but still do it. The numbers aren't just high, but they've gone up in the last three years.
Once you realize texting and driving is not just a problem among teens, some statistics become scary; for every teen driver on the road, there are 18 adult drivers. Texting and driving is so dangerous because it involves using your eyes, hands, and mind all at once. Every day, more than nine people are killed and 1,060 injured in crashes involving distracted driving.
What makes these accidents so devastating is that they could have easily been prevented. When asked, no one would say that sending a text is important enough to risk another person's life. However, the statistics seem to show the opposite.
