On the evening of Saturday May 2nd, fairies will be making an appearance at Watnong Park in Morris Plains. The park, located on Grannis Avenue, is just past the center of town. Visitors that night will be guided toward a row of trees and the miniature fairy houses among them, all glowing with lights. Each cozy tiny home is ready for visitors to greet the tiny residents that may be hiding inside.
The event, running from 7:30 until 9:30 pm, will be giving the first twenty-five (25) visitors that come in fairy costumes a special bag of gifts. The Fairy Walk is a joint project of the Morris Plains Beautification Committee and Morris Plains Clean Communities Program with help from the Morris Plains Police Department, Department of Public Works, and Girl Scouts.
Besides the Fairy Walk itself, there will be a number of tables with simple crafts, game and puzzle sheets, as well as give-a-ways hosted by the event organizers, Plan Better Morris Plains, the Educational Foundation of Morris Plains, the Morris Plains Girl Scouts, Joyful Noise Preschool, and the Co-op Playschool. Music will be provided by two Morris Plains residents and Morristown High School students, Olivia Drivas and Derek Nieto, on violin and guitar.
