Colonials Whip Wolfpack, Climb to .500

The Morristown Colonials defense continues to be the story of the season as a shutout performance allowed them to survive the onslaught of the the visiting West Morris Wolfpack on their way to a 3-0 victory.

Sophomore, Ethan Bolson’s clutch 32-yard-field goal was the difference in the game. Junior running back, Jordan Powell, who also intercepted a pass, led the charge on the Colonials’ lone scoring drive, when he ran the ball deep into Wolf Pack territory, setting up Bolson’s field goal.T he win pulls Morristown to 2-2, .500 on the season after dropping their first two contests.

One week after West Morris ran all over Roxbury in a 21-10 victory, the Colonials defense completely shut down the Wolf Pack offense, limiting them to 154 total yards with only 35 in the air.

“This is what we expect to do every week," Head Coach Chris Hull said. "When we’re playing Morristown football, we expect to shut everyone down.” 

The Wolf Pack managed only one drive deep into Morristown territory late in the game, before two plays sealed the victory for the Colonials.  The first came on a third down and six from the eight yard line.  Senior, Andres Rodriguez, who led the Colonials’ with 7.5 tackles, sacked quarterback, Colin Sokolowski, for a four yard loss. 

On the very next play, senior cornerback, Leo Friedman intercepted Sokolowski’s pass in the end zone, extinguishing killing the Wolf pack's threat.

“I can’t even describe this.  I can’t put into words how good this win feels,” Friedman said.  “It’s great, it’s one heck of a team effort.”    

The story of the season continues to be the Morristown defense. Senior inside linebacker Justin Danielsen had 6.5 tackles, junior safety Powell had 6, and senior inside linebacker, Freddy Ruiz had 5.5 tackles.

When the drive finally stalled, Ethan Bolson, as he had done all game, punted the ball deep into West Morris territory, forcing them back to their own goal line.  From there, it was a fitting end to a great defensive effort, as the Colonials once again stuffed the Wolf Pack, preserving the victory.
