Court Decision on Townhouses at Honeywell Campus Could Come This Week

A fight that lasted more than two years and resulted in a major corporation moving part of its operation out of Morris Township could all finally be settled this week, as a Superior Court Judge is set to hear arguments regarding Honeywell’s corporate campus.

Judge Stephan Hansbury will spend Tuesday and Wednesday hearing arguments about Morris Township’s decision to rezone the campus’s property and if it was illegal spot zoning, according to a report on nj.com.

In 2012, the township rezoned the property, which sits at the corner of Columbia Turnpike and Park Avenue.

The rezoning was meant to keep Honeywell from leaving the township after it threatened to move part of its operations to a former Johnson and Johnson site in Morris Plains, the report said.

Hanging in the balance is the potential development of townhouses, the report said.
