Drunk Driving, Drugs Top Morris Plains Police Blotters

Morris Plains Officers made multiple drunk driving arrests.

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ— Drugs and drunk driving arrests topped this week's Morris Plains Police Blotter, released on Facebook.

On March 8th, 2017, at 4:07 p.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle on Tabor Road with a vehicle for having an expired vehicle registration. The driver, a 21-year old male Chatham resident, was also found to be Driving While Suspended and had multiple warrants for his arrest out of Dover, North Plainfield, and Secaucus Municipal Courts. He was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was processed and turned over to the Dover Police Department in default of bail. He was provided a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.

On March 5th, 2017, at 1:42 a.m., officers were dispatched to the Highland's Apartment Complex for a reported noise complaint. Upon arrival and speaking with the party, officers observed suspected Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia in plain view. Subsequently, the resident, a 24-year old male Morris Plains resident, was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, charged with Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and being under the influence. He was released with a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.

On March 5th, 2017, at 12:40 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle fail to move over for a emergency vehicle on Route 10 East. The officer followed the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 10 East near Johnson Road. While speaking with the driver, a 23-year old male Parsippany resident, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was asked to step out of his vehicle and perform a series of standard field sobriety tests. Subsequently, the driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, issued motor vehicles summonses for Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to change lanes for an emergency vehicle, Open container of an alcoholic beverage, and Careless Driving. He was released to a sober family member pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.

On February 25th, 2017, at 3:29 a.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop with a vehicle for multiple equipment violations. Subsequently the driver, a 19-year old male Denville resident, was found to have an active warrant out of West Milford Municipal Court. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, issued traffic summons for Improper display of plates and Tinted windows, and released after posting bail on the warrant.

On February 19th, 2017, at 9:19 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle traveling on Speedwell Avenue without its headlights on. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and upon contact with the driver, a 21-year old male Morristown resident, the officer detected a strong odor of suspected Marijuana. The occupants were asked to step out of the vehicle and Morris County Sheriff's K-9 Department was contacted to assist. Subsequently, the driver was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, charged with Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Failure to surrender C.D.S to a Law Enforcement Officer. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for No Headlights, Maintenance of Lamps, and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance inside a Motor Vehicle. He was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.

On February 18th, 2017, at 2:21 a.m., an officer on routine patrol observed a vehicle on Speedwell Avenue traveling with a flat tire and damage to the front hood of the vehicle. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Speedwell Avenue near Morris Plains Avenue. While speaking to the driver, a 29-year old male Randolph resident, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was asked to step out of his vehicle and perform a series of standard field sobriety tests. Subsequently, the driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, issued motor vehicle summonses for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving While Intoxicated in a School Zone, Reckless Driving, Careless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an accident, Failure to report an accident, and Tire Equipment. He was released to a sober family member pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.
