MORRIS PLAINS, NJ — Morris Plains police made multiple arrests in September, ranging from DWIs, to drugs, to warrants. Read about those arrests here, as written by the Morris Plains Police Department:
On September 3rd, 2017, at 11:51 p.m., an officer conducting a traffic enforcement detail on Speedwell Avenue stopped a motor vehicle on Littleton Road for a moving violation. While speaking to the driver, a 29-year old male Morristown resident, Dispatch advised the officer that the driver had an active warrant for his arrest out of Madison Joint Municipal Court. Subsequently, he was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, issued motor vehicle tickets for Careless Driving, Driving While Suspended, and Touring Privileges. He was released after posting full bail on the warrant and provided with mandatory court appearances in Morris Plains and Madison Municipal Courts.
On September 24th, 2017, at 12:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Mountain Way and Granniss Avenue for the reported Hit & Run motor vehicle accident that occurred in Parsippany. Patrol located the vehicle on Glenbrook Road and conducted a motor vehicle stop with the vehicle. While speaking with the driver, a 41- year old male Morristown resident, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was asked to step out of his vehicle and perform a series of standard field sobriety tests. Subsequently, the driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to police headquarters. He was processed, issued motor vehicle tickets for Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit to Breath Testing, Failure to Install an Interlock Device, and Reckless Driving. He was released to a sober family member pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.

On September 29th, 2017, at 12:41 a.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Speedwell Avenue after observing the vehicle to be speeding. Upon making contact with the driver, a 18-year old female Parsippany resident, the officer detected a strong odor of suspected Marijuana. A search of the vehicle was conducted which revealed Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. Subsequently, the driver was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. She was processed, charged with Possession of Marijuana under 50 grams and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was additionally issued motor vehicle tickets for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance inside a motor vehicle, Speeding, Maintenance of Lamps, and Mirrors required on every motor vehicle. She was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.
On September 30th, 2017, at 1:22 a.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Tabor Road after observing the vehicle improperly use a blinker. While speaking with the driver, a 23-year old female Dover resident, the officer detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. She was asked to exit her vehicle and perform a series of standard field sobriety tests. Subsequently, she was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to police headquarters. She was processed, issued motor vehicle tickets for Driving While Intoxicated, Failure to Inspect, Improper use of turn signal, and making an illegal turn. She was released to a sober family member pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.
