Eco FunFest Returns with Outdoor Family Fun: Saturday 5/21 at 1 pm

Morristown, NJ, May 21, 2022 – Unity Charter School Parent Teacher Organization is excited to announce the return of the Eco FunFest on Saturday, May 21st from 1-4 pm on the campus of Unity Charter School. This event is open to the greater commUnity and will include sustainably made games, arts and crafts, student vendors, a planting station, and a silent auction. This year’s special guests include Unity parent and author, Brendan Deneen, The Whippany River Watershed Action Committee, Friends of Footes Pond, and Wellness on Wheels, a nutrition and hydroponic education system. Healthy snacks will be available for purchase as well as a free water bottle refill station.

Families will have the opportunity to try their hands at homemade carnival games made from recycled materials, learn how to create your own comic from award winning and best-selling author, Brendan Deneen, and visit with special guests from The Whippany River Watershed Action Committee and Friends of Footes Pond, both organizations with environmental focuses in our local commUnity.

Wellness on Wheels (WoW) operates on a 35-foot RV with a full kitchen and hydroponic garden focused on nourishing minds and communities. Take a moment to make your own compostable newspaper pot and plant some native seeds. Student vendors will feature their handmade items for sale and healthy snacks will be available for a nominal cost.

The Silent Auction tent features eighteen baskets with mission-minded themes centered around the environment, sustainability, and leaving a smaller footprint on our Earth. Themes include Natural Beauty, Outdoor Explorer, Sustainable Lunch, Pets, Spring Planting, Green Laundry, For the Pollinators, Save the Reefs, and more. There is something for everyone!

Children will have the opportunity to “adopt a pet”, aka a plush friend, when leaving as a prize for attending. Parking is available in the adjacent parking lot at Cooper Electric. Everyone is a winner and fun doesn’t have to be expensive!
