Fake IDs, Smoking In Cars Top Morris Plains Police Blotter

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ— Morris Plains Police Department made multiple arrests in the past week, including for using fake IDs, and smoking pot in public, police said. All blotter items appear as written by the Morris Plains Police Department.
On April 6th, 2017, at 4:04 p.m., an officer observed a vehicle backing out of a parking spot in the parking lot of Morris Plains Police Headquarters, when the vehicle struck a light pole. The officer went outside and spoke to the driver about the accident. While speaking with the driver, a 57-year old male North Bergen resident, it was determined he had an active warrant for his arrest and a suspended driver's license. Subsequently, the driver was brought inside to police headquarters for processing. He was processed, issued a traffic summons for Driving While Suspended, and released after posting cash bail on the active warrant. He was provided with a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.
On April 8th, 2017, at 5:17 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Candlewood Suites, 100 Candlewood Drive, for the suspicious person. Upon arrival the officers spoke to the hotel staff and they advised that the male was attempting to check-in to the hotel and presented a Pennsylvania driver's license. Morris County Dispatch advised patrols that the driver's license was fraudulent and the male, a 39-year old Long Island, NY resident, was placed under arrest. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged with Possession of Fraudulent Government documents. He was released pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris County Superior Court.

On April 8th, 2017, at 6:46 p.m., an off-duty officer from this Agency observed a suspicious male in a vehicle at the Liberty Gas Station, 1799 Route 10 East. The officer observed the male placing green vegetation, suspected to be Marijuana, into a glass smoking pipe while sitting in the vehicle. An additional officer responded and assisted with the investigation. Subsequently the driver, a 26-year old Perth Amboy resident, was placed under arrest for Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was transported to police headquarters, processed, and charged with Possession of under 50 grams of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. He was additionally issued a traffic summons for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance inside a Motor Vehicle and released pending a mandatory court appearance in Morris Plains Municipal Court.
