The Greater Morristown YMCA to Undergo Renovation

[Cedar Knolls, NJ] – The Greater Morristown YMCA, located at 79 Horsehill Road in Cedar Knolls, NJ, announced plans to upgrade its current facility. According to Carol Armour, President and CEO, “We are thrilled to be undergoing a renovation to our building. We opened this location 36 years ago and the time has come for an upgrade. Our plans include enhancements to both the interior and exterior from an infrastructure and architectural perspective. Floor to ceiling glass windows will be installed along the front of the building and a glass atrium will be constructed in the lobby area. We will also be installing a sprinkler system throughout the building as well as replacing six of our heating and air conditioning units.”

The majority of the work will be done to the front of the building, enabling the Y to conduct current programming. “We want to make sure our members are happy and experience little or no disruption. We plan on doing some of the work at night as a result and assure our members that the locker rooms will remain fully functioning throughout the duration of the renovation” says Armour. In addition to the physical renovations, the phone and computer systems will also be upgraded. Windows will be installed in both the gym and Olympic size pool area, providing natural light and enhancing the ambiance.

Other enhancements will be made to the common areas, hallways and fitness center. Construction is gearing up to start in the next few weeks and should be complete by year end. With the transformation to the front of the building, the administrative team will move into trailers for the duration of the construction. “We value our members and thank them in advance for their patience and loyalty while we undergo this much needed renovation”, says Armour.
