Jack Thraen Receives Eagle Scout Honors
Boy Scout Troop 39 of Morris Plains recognizes its 83rd Eagle Scout

Boy Scout Troop 39 of Morris Plains recently held a Court of Honor to
recognize its 83rd Eagle Scout: Jack Thraen of Morris Plains.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Boy Scouts. It requires completing a
service project that demonstrates project planning and leadership. For his Eagle project, Jack led a team that designed, built, and installed
bicycle racks in the Simon’s, Watnong, and Community parks.
With Troop 39, Jack has had the opportunity to participate in extensive
outdoor and community service related activities. Jack has spent 48
days and nights camping, a week at sea in the Florida Keys, and hiked
roughly 50 miles. He has spent close to 90 hours on service projects
and contributed over 300 hours of his time serving as a volunteer Den
Leader and Camp counselor at our local Boy Scout Camp. Jack is a Senior
at Morristown High School.
Troop 39 meets every Monday at 7:15 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in
Morris Plains. For more information, visit the troop’s website at
