Local Resident Creates Free Newsletter Featuring Only Positive News

The Bright Beat delivers uplifting, substantive news to your inbox every Sunday morning

MORRISTOWN, NJ — If the daily news cycle has been leaving you feeling more drained than informed, you're far from alone — and a local founder has built something to help.

Launched earlier this year by lifelong Morris County resident Danielle Galioto, The Bright Beat is a free weekly newsletter delivered every Sunday morning that curates real, timely news stories with a genuinely positive angle. Think medical breakthroughs, business wins, acts of extraordinary generosity, and cultural milestones — all organized into clear categories like Health & Wellness, Business & Finance, Science & Tech, Sports & Entertainment, Good Deeds and more.

"I wanted to build something that helps people stay informed without feeling like they want to scream afterward," said Galioto. "Good news is happening constantly. It's just ignored or buried under a nonstop cycle of crisis-driven headlines."

Galioto isn't new to this. She spent her early career at NewsTalk Television, a startup cable network in New York City in the 1990s, before building a 25-year career leading corporate communications and producing newsletters for major global companies. The idea for The Bright Beat came from her own experience: the more she consumed traditional news, the more she noticed a familiar, heavy feeling settling in — something she now calls "the news blues."

"It's that exhausted, discouraged feeling you get after one too many grim headlines," she said. "According to the American Psychiatric Association, nearly 70% of Americans report feeling anxious about current events. That's not a small problem, and I don't think the answer is to disconnect entirely. The answer is being more intentional about what you let in."

Unlike many "good news" outlets, The Bright Beat isn't built around feel-good fluff. Stories are hand-selected from credible, mainstream sources and written in a warm, conversational tone — no political content, no partisan framing, just news that leaves readers informed and a little lighter.

The newsletter also leans into community: regular reader polls and a founder who actually replies to feedback. "I read and reply to every response," Galioto said. "This isn't just a newsletter to me — it's meant to feel like a conversation with a community that's tired of dreading their inbox."

The Bright Beat is free, delivered every Sunday morning, and open to subscribers anywhere — though its roots, and a good chunk of its readers, are right here in Morris County.
