On Saturday, January 28th, the Air Force Association Chapter 195 sponsored a talk by Lt Col ‘Bob’ Vaucher, of Bridgewater, NJ, on ‘WWII B-29 Show of Force during the Japanese Surrender.’ He is a decorated WWII B-29 pilot with 117 combat missions who led the armada of 525 B-29’s “Show of Force” over the USS Missouri as Gen MacArthur and others signed the Japanese Surrender documents on September 2nd, 1945. In his honor, an AFA Chapter 195 $1,600 Solo Flight scholarship was donated to the Civil Air Patrol NJ Wing. Cadet 2nd Lt Robert Boden of the Lone Eagle Composite Squadron, Peapack-Gladstone, NJ, is shown receiving the scholarship award for the NJ Wing.

The next AFA Chapter 195 meeting will be held on Sat., February 24th, with Stu Shippey giving a talk on the Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome. The Air Force Association Shooting Star Chapter 195 meets on the last Saturday of the month except for the months of June, August, November, and December at Charlie Brown’s, 522 Southern Blvd., Chatham Township, NJ, 07928.
