Search For Wanted Man Over: Morris Twp Police

Breaking: Police say the area is safe again.

MORRIS TOWNSHIP, NJ — The search for a wanted man is over and the area is safe again, Morris Township police said Tuesday morning.

Police warned residents around 10 a.m. on Tuesday they were looking for a man in Morris Township as part of an "active criminal investigation." The search was over around 11:47 a.m.

Police say they are looking for a black man in "dark clothing hiding in the area"of Hanover Ave and Whippany Road. Capt. Mark DiCarlo told Patch the man had fled from the scene of a car accident and was armed and dangerous.

Residents saw a large police presence and a low-hovering helicopter in the area.
